Halloween is getting close and there are more creepy critters around than anyone knows what to do about. Especially spiders, and we don’t just mean the decorations.
An old superstition claims that if you notice a spider on Halloween night, you may be getting a visit from a passed relative or someone you loved. Weird, right? It may make you think twice about using spider-focused pesticides at this time of year…
It’s a bit of an odd thing to think about, so we decided to ask a couple of experts how they think we should respond when people ask us to make sure we didn’t kill any possessed spiders inside of their home.
Rich Kozlovich, of Pest Management Inc. in Cleveland, OH said, “If I had a potential customer suggest such a thing to me, and was serious, I would tell them to go to another company. It has been my experience that irrational people have the tendency to be irrational about more than just one thing.”
Toronto Canada’s Roya Talaei, an Environmental Services Professional said, “If you see a spider on Halloween, hug it, give it a kiss, take it outside; and then ask the spider to do its job, of eating harmful insects.”
“I’m all in favor of hugging and kissing, but feeling 8 arms around me is a bit much.” – Paulakuiten Brouwer
So there’s what the experts have to tell us. You could be wondering how you can identify a possessed spider as opposed to a typical, normal one at this time of year.
It’s not too hard: if it watches TV with the volume up too high, drinks chardonnay, and gets excited about each and every little kid’s Halloween costume, there’s a good chance it’s just grandma. If not, it’s probably an ordinary spider.
