We’ve realized over the years that the most annoying sort of insect is the kind that won’t just infest inside or outside of the home, but that infests every place that it can, both inside and outside. In Knoxville, ants are the kind of creature that often do this. If you are dealing with an ant infestation both inside and outside of you home, it can be twice as hard to exterminate of the pests. It’s true that you may not always wish to call instantly for Knoxville ant control, so Bulwark Exterminating has put together a list of four easy do-it-yourself ant treatments that you will want to attempt when you are having trouble with any kinds of ants in and around your home.
- 1/4 Cup Dried Mint Flakes
- ¼ Cup Ground Cinnamon
- 1 Cup Rock Dust (From Nursery)
- 1 Cup Garlic Powder
- 1 Package Dry Enchilada Sauce Mix
- 1 Cup Organic Alfalfa Meal
- 1/2 Cup Cayenne Pepper
Mix up all of the ingredients together inside a big brown paper bag. After that, take this mixture and place it in all of the places that you may have run into ants. This blend will not cause death for the ants, but what it will do is discourage them from entering areas by creating a defensive barrier that the ants aren’t going to go past. Warning: Don’t get this mixture anywhere near your eyes.
- 4 Tablespoons Peanut Butter
- 6 Tablespoons Honey
- 3/4 Teaspoon Boric Acid
Blend the ingredients together and then scoop out tiny spoonfuls of the combination near groups of ants. The bugs will take this deadly concotion back to their nest, where they will eat it and it will also get back to their queen. Once the queen ant has eaten the toxic concoction, the whole nest should be exterminated within a few days.
A Different Ant Bait
You can do a very similar procedure as the last one, just with a moderately different recipe. When done the right way, it should produce identical results, killing the whole nest of ants after a few days.
- ¼ Cup Grape Jelly
- 1 Small Can Wet Cat Food
- 1 Teaspoon Boric Acid
- 2 Liters Warm Water
- 2 Tablespoons Soap Flakes
- 1 Tablespoon Hot Sauce
- 1 Teaspoon Sesame Oil
- 1 Teaspoon natural castile soap (citrus oil and vegetable oils)
Put all ingredients into a spray bottle and shake to blend. Spray the finished mixture in spots where there have been ants, and also onto ants themselves.
